Our Story

Built on the belief that
a community deserves better coffee.

Henpeck Mercantile & Coffee Co. started with a simple frustration: Oblong deserved a place where the coffee was worth the wait and the food was made with actual ingredients. Not instant. Not frozen. Not something that came from a factory three states away.

Today, we source directly from roasters who share our standards, bake every morning before the doors open, and stock our shelves with pantry goods we'd actually keep in our own kitchen. That's the mercantile part — things you can take home that taste as good as what we serve here.

The mercantile side of the shop is where we stock the things we use ourselves — coffee beans from our roaster partners, kitchen tools we actually reach for, pantry staples that make weeknight dinners easier, and small-batch foods from producers we trust.

If we wouldn't eat it, drink it, or keep it in our own home, it's not on our shelves. That's the short version of how we pick what goes here.
